Academic Questions

Do I have access to my students grades?

Students are the only ones with access to their grades and academic record via their MyCalPoly Portal.

What is PolyPlanner?

PolyPlanner is a tool that gives students the opportunity to tell Cal Poly what courses they plan to take over the next year. Think of it as a “wish list” of future classes.

Cal Poly uses PolyPlanner course data to appropriately schedule classes for the upcoming year. It’s important that students correctly update their PolyPlanner each quarter to ensure the best possible course offerings at Cal Poly.

You must log in each quarter, even if you have no changes to make to your plan (this verifies that the information is correct).

More info on PolyPlanner can be found here

What is the Mustang Success Center?

The Mustang Success Center coordinates and provides timely, effective advising services to first and second year students, first year transfer students, and student-athletes. Through individual appointments, group advising sessions, and workshops, the advisors help students:

  • Understand University policies and procedures
  • Offer a full range of proactive academic services
  • Refer students to appropriate campus resources
  • Provide leadership in coordinating College and University programs that support student success

Are halls and apartments open during the quarter breaks?
The periods of occupancy are indicated on the Housing License Agreement. Students must vacate their rooms during Winter Break. Students needing Winter Break Housing will need to check the Winter Break Housing option on the  their housing application and will be assigned to  live in the Cerro Vista Apartments for the fall quarter. Winter break housing is limited and will be assigned on a first-come, first served basis. Any residents requesting winter break housing after the deadline, will need to contact University Housing directly at housing@calpoly.edu

What about receiving mail and packages?
Mail and packages are delivered based upon your campus housing assignment. Your mailing address will be provided to you with your housing assignment. If you live in an apartment, your mailbox number is assigned to you by Distribution Services during the summer.
