Registration Details

$30 per person | Open to all ages

Registration includes a SLO Discovery Weekend T-shirt and lanyard, weekend campus parking permit, exclusive local excursions and discounts, and access to over a dozen free activities both on and off campus. Registrants staying in a SLO hotel will also receive a limited edition SLO Discovery Weekend Bag!

In addition to the registration fee, registrants can also purchase tickets to several exclusive off-campus excursions. View the weekend schedule below for more information.

Friday, May 11

SLO Discovery Weekend Check-in

12-5 p.m. | University Union Plaza

Check-in to receive your SLO Discovery Weekend t-shirt, Cal Poly Baseball vs. UC Irvine tickets, lanyard and wristband. Limited edition weekend swag bags will also be handed out to those staying in San Luis Obispo hotels.

Mustang Lanes Bowling

12-5 p.m. | Mustang Lanes Bowling Alley

Enjoy unlimited access to Mustang Lanes, Cal Poly's premier bowling alley!

Recreation Center Pass

Come explore, recharge and escape at Cal Poly's state of the art recreation center.

Enjoy a TedTalk-style lecture series featuring top Cal Poly faculty, staff and special guests. Appetizers and beverages will be served.

Be inspired and amazed at the incredible work our students are doing in the Aerospace Engineering department as you learn from one of Cal Poly’s own rocket scientists! Cal Poly students have been exploring space and launching satellites and rockets throughout the year – this is your chance to get an inside look!

Win, Lose, or Draw? Healthy Competition and Sports-Based Youth Development

Participants will be engaged in a discussion regarding the current state of youth sports in the United States today, including perceptions of coddled youth, the role of club sports, and the proliferation of burnout and overuse injuries. The concept of healthy competition will be introduced, and Dr. Greenwood will discuss the role of sports-based youth development organizations in promoting wellness through sport.

Explore SLO Railroad Museum

10 a.m. - 4 p.m. | San Luis Obispo Railroad Museum

All aboard! Whether you are looking for a new train set for your kids or are fascinated with railroad history, the San Luis Obispo Railroad Museum is great for the whole family. With educational docents, exhibits and artifacts from the early railroad days, the museum is a must see as you enjoy the SLO life.

Tour Dallidet Adobe and Gardens

11 a.m. - 5 p.m. | Dallidet Adobe and Gardens

Wine lover or history fanatic? This stop is for you. The Dallidet Adobe was home to the Dallidet family, the first commercial vintners in the San Luis Obispo area. Now owned and run by the History Center of SLO County, the Dallidet Adobe and Gardens is a great place to soak up knowledge on the development of the wine industry in the area while taking in beautiful landscapes.

Tour Mission San Luis Obispo de Tolosa

1:15 - 2 p.m. | Mission San Luis Obispo de Tolosa

Travel back in time circa 1772 and enjoy a docent-led tour of Mission San Luis Obispo de Tolosa. The mission is a must-see for tourists and locals alike, standing as the fifth California mission founded by Father Junípero Serra.

Sunday, May 13

Ranger-led Wildflower Hike

9-11 a.m. | Johnson Ranch

Enjoy and learn about local wildflowers on the Johnson Ranch loop, a moderate (1-2) hour hike.

Ranger led hikes are a great way to learn more about the open spaces you enjoy. Rangers cover topics from flora and fauna to local history of open spaces. These hikes are also a great way to get to know your local rangers and ask questions about the Ranger Service and responsible use of open space. 

Location: Johnson Ranch Trailhead (South Higuera and Ontario Rd.)

Mother's Day Brunch

9 a.m. - 2 p.m. | Various downtown SLO locations

Enjoy a delicious Mother's Day brunch at one of the following local restaurants.

SLO Provisions May 13 All orders must be made by 8 pm on Tuesday, May 8th. *Ham orders should be placed as soon as possible due to limited availability*. Payment made at time of order. Orders will be available for pick up between 2pm and 6pm on Saturday, May 13th. SLO Provisions will be closed on Sunday, May 14th. Cancellations after 9am on Wednesday, May 9th will result in a 100% charge of the total bill.
Edna Valley Vineyard 10:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. Enjoy a delicious and gourmet 3-course meal. Each delectable course is paired with a select limited release Edna wine. In addition, each guest will be gifted a beautiful hydrangea stem.

Mother's Day Concert

1-4 p.m. | Historic Jack House and Gardens

Join the City of San Luis Obispo Parks and Recreation Department for a Mother’s Day Concert at the Historic Jack House and Gardens. Bring a picnic and enjoy free flowers, Madonna Inn cake and live music by the Cal Poly Jazz Band!

Downtown SLO Public Art Tour

8:30 - 9:30 a.m. | Open to guests 18+

Enjoy a 1 hour leisurely stroll through downtown SLO to discover both iconic and hidden public art gems. With a cup of complimentary local coffee in hand, you'll be treated to approximately two dozen murals, sculptures and other works of art -- all while hearing the stories that have made these public art pieces a treasure of the Central Coast.

Art Bar SLO Workshop

10 a.m. - 12 p.m. | Open to guests 21+

Tap into your creative side at Art Bar in downtown SLO where talented, local artists will guide you step-by-step through a beautiful art piece (pictured above) for you to take home and display! 

The fee includes a canvas, easel, apron, brushes, paints, instruction from a resident artist and a complimentary cocktail.

Breakaway Wine Tour

Taste of SLO Walking Food Tour

Walking Beer Tour
