This October 22-24, discover how your student has made Cal Poly their home! Experience three fun-filled days that celebrate the campus community.

At Mustang Family Weekend, you and your family will:

  • Engage in Learn by Doing lectures and labs led by esteemed faculty. 
  • Explore campus through interactive tours. 
  • Enjoy live music and fun activities. 
  • Attend athletic, performing arts and cultural events* 

… and so much more! 

$80 registration fee is for the ENTIRE FAMILY and includes:

  • One Mustang Family swag bag (the first 1,200 families receive an EXTRA special spirit pack!).
  • One weekend campus parking pass.
  • Entrance to dozens of exclusive campus events and programming.
  • Access to discounted athletic and performing arts events.*

 

*Cal Poly athletic and performing arts event tickets must be purchased for an additional fee.

Friday, Oct. 22

9:40 a.m. Campus Tour yakʔitʸutʸu Residential Community Embark on a student-led walking tour of campus.
11:10 a.m. - 12 p.m. Promoting Your Student's Career Success Bldg. 124, Rm. 117 At this interactive session, the associate director of Career Services will share an overview of Cal Poly's career education model and facilitate dialogue about ways you can help your student achieve a lifetime of meaningful career success.
12-5 p.m. Open Hours - Cal Poly Meat Market Meat Processing Center Visit the Cal Poly Meat Market to purchase a variety of Cal Poly meats and other student-made products and support Learn by Doing!
1:40 p.m. Campus Tour yakʔitʸutʸu Residential Community Embark on a student-led walking tour of campus.
2-3:30 p.m. Transfer Stories Bldg. 10, Rm. 206 Come listen to transfer students from across campus share their stories. This event is the culmination of National Transfer Student Week 2021.
4-6 p.m. Alumni Legacy Lounge* Alumni House

Is your student following in your footsteps as a Cal Poly Mustang? Are you a member of a long line of Cal Poly Proud alumni? We want to celebrate you! Please join us for the Cal Poly Alumni Legacy Lounge and connect with fellow families who share the Learn by Doing tradition. We'll share ways to stay involved with Cal Poly and answer any questions you may have as alumni. We can't wait to meet you, and welcome back to Cal Poly!

6:30 p.m. Cal Poly Music Department Faculty Showcase Davidson Music Center, Room 218 Cal Poly’s music department faculty are recognized across the region for their expertise in solo and chamber ensemble performance. For this showcase recital, intimate works that highlight their artistic achievements will be presented. 
7 p.m. Volleyball vs UC San Diego* Mott Athletic Center

Cheer on the Mustangs during an exciting home volleyball game against UC San Diego. 

 

$8 per person. (20% discount for Mustang Family Weekend registrants!) Cal Poly students get in free with ID.

8 p.m. Lula Washington Dance Theatre* Harold Miossi Hall

This world-class Los Angeles-based ensemble is filled with youthful, athletic dancers who perform the innovative, provocative choreography of founder Lula Washington, who has steadfastly focused on using contemporary modern dance to explore social and humanitarian issues while highlighting aspects of African American history and culture. Throughout her expansive repertoire, each piece unveils honesty, integrity, and creativity of unparalleled power. (Ages 13+)

Saturday, Oct. 23

9 a.m. - 12 p.m. Rocket Launch Lower Sports Complex Fields

A Mustang Family Weekend favorite! Watch Aerospace Engineering students launch rockets that they designed in a competition to see which can go the highest and fly the longest.

10-11:30 a.m. Coffee with the College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences Agricultural Sciences Building Patio Join the College of Agriculture, Food and Environmental Sciences' leadership and academic advisors to learn more about the college's 15 majors and how it prepares students for meaningful careers. Coffee and treats will be provided.
10 a.m. - 12 p.m. Coffee with the College of Liberal Arts Location TBD

Join the College of Liberal Arts to explore the many career paths of a Liberal Arts degree. Meet Associate Dean Penny Bennett and learn how the college is leading the way for interdisciplinary opportunities on campus. Hear from career counselors, academic advisors, and student ambassadors about how students can take full advantage of the flexibility of the College of Liberal Arts majors. Coffee and light refreshments will be provided.

10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Open Hours - Cal Poly Meat Market Meat Processing Center Visit the Cal Poly Meat Market to purchase a variety of Cal Poly meats and other student-made products and support Learn by Doing!
10 a.m. - 3 p.m. CultureFest University Union Plaza CultureFest is an annual celebration of diversity through culture, food, and community. During this event, Cal Poly’s cultural clubs and organizations come out and sell traditional foods to share their culture with the campus community. They also perform throughout the day to showcase pieces of their culture through clothing, dance, songs, and so much more.
11 a.m. Architectural Engineering Family Weekend BBQ Bldg. 21 Courtyard and KTGY Gallery (21-105A) Join the Architectural Engineering department for its annual Mustang Family Weekend tri-tip barbecue, photo booth, and department head's presentation. 
2 p..m. Volleyball vs UC Irvine* Mott Athletic Center

Cheer on the Mustangs during an exciting home volleyball game against UC Irvine. 

 

$8 per person. (20% discount for Mustang Family Weekend registrants!) Cal Poly students get in free with ID.

2 p.m. Mustang Corral BBQ* O'Neill Green

Enjoy food, drinks, music, and fun before heading to Spanos Stadium to root on the Mustangs.

 

$25 per adult, $15 per youth (20 and under).

5 p.m. Cal Poly Football vs UC Davis* Alex G. Spanos Stadium

Cheer on the Mustangs during an exciting home football game against UC Davis. 

 

$17 per person. (20% discount for Mustang Family Weekend registrants!) Cal Poly student gets one free ticket that will be included automatically with the purchase of tickets and seated with your group.

3 p.m. Men's Soccer vs UC Davis* Alex G. Spanos Stadium
