Mustang Family Insights: TRIO

September 4th, 2024
Join us for an informative session with the TRIO Achievers/Student Support Services (SSS) team, including Director Jacqueline Gallegos and Program Coordinator/Academic Advisor Ryan Ichinaga. Since 1984, our program has been a cornerstone of Cal Poly, funded by the U.S. Department of Education, and dedicated to supporting 258+ students annually. Discover the extensive services available, from personalized academic advising and tutoring to career guidance and financial aid assistance. We’ll walk you through what to expect in the coming year, and how to make the most of your participation in TRIO Achievers. Join us to understand how TRIO Achievers can make a difference in your student's academic and personal growth.

 


Mustang Family Insights: EOP

Join us as we hear from Educational Opportunity Program (EOP) Director, Roger Wang. Learn about the primary goals of (EOP) which are to improve the access, retention and graduation of students who have been historically, economically and/or educationally disadvantaged. The core of this program's services is built upon a student-centered model which encourages college success, community building, and empowerment.

 


Mustang Family Insights: Cal Poly Scholars

Learn more about the Cal Poly Scholars program from Trisha Hongcharti, Program Coordinator. An annual, renewable scholarship specific to Cal Poly, the Cal Poly Scholars program seeks to support and retain high-achieving students from California schools, who come from low-income backgrounds, by providing financial, academic, and community resources.

Lunch and Learn: Mustang Success Center (Presented by the Cal Poly Parent Advisory Council)

Join us as we hear from the Mustang Success Center (MSC) and campus expert, Shannon Stephens, Director for the Mustang Success Center at Cal Poly. Learn about how MSC provides an inclusive environment that proactively supports first-time freshmen with their successful transition and integration into Cal Poly. The MSC staff provides accessible academic advising that guides students to clear pathways of success and builds a foundation for timely graduation. They are a great starting point for all first-time freshmen students.

Mustang Family Insights: Safer

Hear from the Safer program and campus expert, Irene Tobias, Survivor Wellness Coordinator at Cal Poly. Parents and supporters are an irreplaceable part of a student's life - Safer invites you into a conversation with a campus violence prevention expert about supporting your student in navigating new relationships and experiences, and how we can prevent harm before it happens. Safer will guide participants through a Dialogue Toolkit created specifically for Cal Poly parents and supporters, with guidance on how to have these challenging conversations, resources available to you and your student, and what you can expect for the coming year.

We will discuss priority registration, parking permits, emergency grants, and other support, resources, community-building events specifically for you!
